ACartFull ("we," "us," or "our"), based in Massachusetts, provides a grocery budgeting and community mutual-aid mobile application and website (together, the "Service"). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.

1. Information We Collect

Information you provide directly

Account information: your name and email address.
Household details: household size, dietary preferences, and meal planning choices you enter.
Budgets and shopping data: budget goals, shopping carts, and pantry inventory you create.
Product barcodes you scan: when you use the barcode scanner, we process the barcode number to look up product information. Camera images are processed on your device and are not stored or uploaded.
Loyalty card numbers: if you choose to save them for personalized pricing.
Community contributions: prices, deals, and food-resource status reports you choose to share (see Section 3 for how these are displayed to other users).
Meal assistance requests: if you request community meal assistance, the details you submit.
Support communications: messages you send to our support team.

Information collected automatically

Precise location (GPS), with your permission: used to find nearby stores and community food resources. Location is used at the time of your request and is not continuously tracked. You may decline the permission and enter a zip code instead.
Device information: device model, operating system, and app version.
Usage information: features used and general interaction patterns, to improve the Service.
Push notification tokens: if you enable notifications.
Access logs: standard technical logs for security and reliability.

Information from third parties

Grocery pricing and product data from retailer APIs (such as Kroger) and public databases (such as Open Food Facts).

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to provide, maintain, and improve the ACartFull Service, including to:

Generate personalized budget carts and price comparisons;
Show nearby stores, weekly deals, and community food resources;
Display community-contributed prices, deals, and resource status reports;
Award Impact Points and badges for community participation;
Send notifications you have enabled (such as price alerts);
Respond to support requests;
Protect the security and integrity of the Service.

We do not sell your personal information. We do not use your information for third-party advertising.

3. How Information Is Shared

With other users (community features): when you share a price report, deal alert, or food-resource status report, other users can see the contribution itself — such as the item, price, store, general location (zip code), and how recently it was reported. Your name, email, and other contact information are never shown to other users. Meal assistance requests are shared with volunteers anonymously.
Service providers: we use trusted vendors to operate the Service — including Supabase (database and authentication) and Expo (app infrastructure and notifications) — under agreements that restrict their use of your data to providing services to us.
Charitable organizations: the "Pay It Forward" feature contains links to third-party charitable organizations (such as Feeding America). If you choose to donate, you do so on the organization's own website, and any information you provide there is governed by that organization's privacy policy — not this one. ACartFull does not receive or process your donation or payment details.
Legal requirements: we may disclose information when required by law or to protect the rights, safety, and security of ACartFull, our users, or others.
Business transfers: if ACartFull is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to this policy.

4. Data Retention

5. Security

Data is encrypted in transit using TLS 1.3 and encrypted at rest. Access to personal information is limited to what is needed to operate the Service. In the event of a data breach affecting your personal information, we will notify you within 30 days, consistent with Massachusetts law (M.G.L. c. 93H).

6. Children's Privacy

The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

7. Your Choices and Rights

Access and deletion: you may request a copy of your data or deletion of your account and associated data by emailing support@acartfull.com.
Location: you can revoke location permission at any time in your device settings and use zip-code entry instead.
Notifications: you can disable push notifications in your device settings.
Community contributions: you may request removal of contributions you have shared.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. For material changes we will notify you through the app or by email at least 14 days before the change takes effect. The "Last updated" date above reflects the current version.
